A New Coat for Anna
Illustrated by Lobel, Arnold
Anna needs a new winter coat, but it is just after World War II and there is no money to buy one. Her mother trades a gold watch for wool, which must then be spun into yarn, dyed, and woven into cloth before a tailor can make Anna's coat. Based on a true story, "A New Coat for Anna" shows how patience, hard work, and cooperation can turn a few simple resources into something beautiful.
